Description
FLADANT is non halogenated, non toxic and non corrosive flame retardant and smoke suppressant works through water vapor generation, heat removal and char formation.
It is the heat sinking and endotermic dehydration characteristics that enable FLADANT to retard the burning of polymers or fibres. It will release abundant amount of water vapor at approx. 220 deg C (428 deg F). This water vapor quenches the surface of surrounding materials while restricting the access of oxygen to the burning polymers or fibres. Combustible and potentially toxic off-gases are also diluted by this water vapor.
Because FLADANT contains no Halogens or heavy metals, it is better for environmental compliance than flame retardants based on antimony metal or chlorinated and brominated (halogenated) compounds. Arc-tract resistance in electrical composites is improved by the use of FLADANT.
The heat generated by high arc temperature is absorbed by the FLADANT. When endothermic dehydration occurs the water vapor slows the surface degradation of the polymer and the resultant formation of the carbonized film.
